CAUTION - Don't Respond To Emails That Request Personal Information

Many people continue to receive emails that ask you to update personal account information, such as name, birth date, address, credit card numbers, logins, and passwords. Some of these messages may look very authentic and may appear to come from familiar support groups or names that you recognize. However, while they might look legitimate, they are "phishing" scams, intended to get personal information about you. The University and other email providers will never ask you to submit private information. If you receive one of these messages, delete it immediately. Never respond with any personal information. If you think it might be legitimate, use an independent directory to get a phone number, then call and verify the request. Do not use any numbers or other contact information included in the email. If you already provided your password, change it immediately to protect your account.
